Abstract：From the middle period of the 20th century,the spatial turn which included the study on literature has challenged the traditional idea of space and brought the new idea in.The spatial turn connected with the study on literature.On the one hand,the spatial turn entered the field of the study on literature from the different angles,because the theorists who did not study the literature paid more or less attention on the literature or art;on the other hand,the study on literature was one of the important parts which composed the contemporary theory of the space,because critics who studied the literature or the culture paid more or less attention on the space.So,the study on literature has become a kind of special space which intervened and criticized the reality.The spatial criticism which connected the other forward criticisms and the whole human study in the contemporary west,is a description of the cross-relations.Thus it is important to study the spatial criticism,while we enter the field of the forward criticism in the contemporary west.The paper will trace the background and the theoretical basis on which constituted the spatial criticism,and study the new peculiarities that appeared in the field of the study on literature.It puts forward the following viewpoints.Firstly,the spatial criticism which arose in the trend of the spatial turn and emphasized the ontological quality and the heterogeneity of the space,is one of the important forward critic patterns in the west;secondly,the spatial criticism stresses that the literature participated in the actual space and the literature was a juxtaposition space;thirdly,the critical function of the literature,in the repeated interpretation,appears in the spatial criticism which emphasized the plural resource of the literature space and the heterogeneity of the text space.The spatial criticism is a new way to which the west intellectuals intervene in the reality and participate in the polity through the literature.
